Lindows founder offered Xbox Linux $200,000 prize
And extends offer for a year

THE ANONYMOUS DONOR who offered two prizes of $100,000 to port Linux onto the Xbox has revealed his identity.

And he is Michael Robertson, the founder of the Lindows operating system, report the founders of the project.

Robinson offered two donations – one to run Linux on an Xbox, a project that was successfully completed.

The second part involved running Linux on an Xbox without any hardware modifications – but that’s not yet completed.

The site says Robertson will dish out the money for the successful completion of the first part by the end of January.

And he has decided to continue to offer the $100,000 price for the rest of this year.

Lindows is currently engaged in a court dispute with Microsoft, which believes that the word Windows is something it can trademark.
