Life, The Universe, and Everything

Of which the answer is “42″ of course.

On another note, just trying to finish all these projects so I can prepare for my return trip to Austin this Friday. I’m looking forward to seeing my San Antonio friends and my cousin again, along with meeting a friend of my cousin’s (Hi KB!). We plan on doing the whole dinner-then-drinking thing to help with the alcohol saturation. I’ve got a broken computer I’m fixing for a friend, various work projects, and a few contracts I need to send out for the DJ business. So many things to do, so little time to play World of Warcraft. :)

Thought i’d mention a couple of the “cooler” items i’ve found in the news lately. First on the agenda are movie trailers that are definitely worth checking out:

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
Opens April 29, 2005
This is the film i’ve been waiting for since I first picked up the hilarious novel by Douglas Adams when I was still a little 8th grader. I’ve watched this project closely and while I still have a few issues with it, I’m definitely getting excited about the prospect of seeing Arthur, Marvin, Ford, Zaphod, and Trillian up on the big screen. The latest trailer only adds to the excitement.

Sin City
Opens April 1, 2005
Frank Miller’s masterpeice comic drama finds its way to the big screen adapted and directed by the man himself, along with a little help from directors Robert Rodriguez (Desperado, Once Upon A Time In Mexico) and Quentin Tarrantino (Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction). Starring almost half of the SAG (including Bruce Willis, Jessica Alba, & Mickey Rourke, to name a few) , this film looks not only stylistically original, but also promises to be an exciting film-noir type movie that will keep you entertained until the very end.

A Scanner Darkly
Coming Soon
Phillip K. Dick’s (Blade Runner, Minority Report) adapted novel about a man who is in war with the two halfs of his own brain. Directed by Richard Linklater and starring Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder, this film was created by filming the actors doing their scenes and was then animated over the live action scenes to make it look “animated.” The story (like most Phillip K Dick stories) looks bizzare and somewhat confusing, but defintely looks interesting enough.

Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo
Opens August 12, 2005
And just because I thought i’d include ONE stupid film in the list, here’s the sequel to Rob Schnieder’s “classic” (and I use that term VERY loosely) comedy about a house-sitter turned male prostitute. Yeah… no comment.

… And now for something completely different:
Monty Python’s Spamalot: The Quest for the Holy Grail
Opens March 17, 2005
Yes that’s right folks, Monty Python on friggin BROADWAY. Eric Idle, member of the original cast, has adapted their famous film Monty Python & The Holy Grail for a broadway show that opened last Friday. It stars David Hyde Pierce, Tim Curry, and Hank Azaria. I think I finally found the only broadway show i’m actually interested in seeing!

Until next time, so long and thanks for all the fish!

I don’t know who you are, Lemon, but I like the way you think….except for the part about having to watch Deuce Bigalow, European Gigolo. I with you on that one, Haggis.

i once had a boyfriend who, when we broke up, that was his last statement to me. “so long and thanks for all the fish!” like that was his big ZING and fuck you at the end of our relationship. and i guess he thought that once he deliveded it and =click= hung up the phone (this was high school, mind you) i would sink back into my devastation and think “hell, i really screwed up now!” but, rather just thought “what a nerd” because….i like the hitchhikers guide as much as the next guy … but that….was just dumb.
