Kramer Goes Bananas
Poor, poor Michael Richards. His career is pretty much non-existent since his glory days as doofus Kramer on Seinfeld, and now he’s being reduced to the level of Mel Gibson.
Richards seems to lose his mind after being heckled by a few of the audience members. His almost three minute vocal tirade is not only unfunny, but it’s also just sad to watch.
He’s already recorded a segment via satellite on tonight’s Letterman, which coincidentally had Jerry Seinfeld to appear as a guest. Richards was reported to be almost in tears the entire time.
Does it strike anyone else that this just seems a little too “publicity stunt”-ish? I understand the backlash that he’ll get because of this, but isn’t this just putting him back in the public spotlight?
A small part of me thinks this whole scheme was concocted for that very purpose. That the hecklers themselves may have even played a part in it. It wouldn’t be too far fetched in this
age where Borat rules supreme, and people actually think Stephen Colbert is a Republican.
Warning: Video has NSFW language, obviously.
UPDATE: Here’s the video of his apology on Letterman last night. It’s extremely painful, so be prepared to squirm uncomfortably in your chair while watching.

I was thinking the same thing, just waiting for someone else to say it.
It not only gets the former K-Man in the news, but goes a long way towards distancing himself, and by default the rest of the Seinfeld cast, from their roles on the show. Julia couldn’t have asked for better indirect publicity. CBS will not allow her to make any comments on the incident is my guess, which will further differentiate her from Elaine. Jerry will continue to do whatever it is that he does (though I must say the last bit he did on Letterman was very amusing), and Jason Alexander, well…being that he has NO exposure now, anything would be good I guess.
